We all know how stressful family pictures can be! However, in our experience there are some things that you can do to help make the experience as easy, and fun as possible! Here are a few tips we recommend for your upcoming family session!
The outfits you wear can make or break your photo. Make sure to pick outfits for your family that not only coordinate with each other, but will fit into the style of photos that you want. If you want bright and colorful photos, throw in some fun accent colors to make your outfits pop. But if you want to go for a more neutral look, wear softer colors
– It is the photographer’s job to talk with the client and understand what the client wants from their session, but we can’t read minds. 🙁 It can be helpful to tell the photographer if there are certain group photos you want or don’t want. If you want certain poses during your session, make sure to let your photographer know! Or if there are certain poses you DON’T want, it is also helpful to voice those concerns. The photographer wants you to love your photos, and should be more than happy to be mindful of your preferences.
5 minutes early, if possible! Sessions are usually specifically planned based on lighting. When you arrive late to a session, it is not only inconvenient for the photographer, but may not give you as much time as you need with good lighting scenarios.
It may sound a little silly, but getting family pictures done is exhausting. Sometimes a little snack in the middle can go a long way, and it can definitely help with getting the kiddos to cooperate 🙂
Not every photo needs to be posed and planned. Some of the best photos can be complete candids or even on accident! Stressing during your session can limit the photos that are captured. Just be yourself and let the photographer take care of the rest!
